Our workshops draw on 30 years’ shared experience in writing, applied theatre, facilitation and storytelling to create dynamic spaces for artistic and personal growth.
We’ve delivered workshops for organisations including the Almeida, Kiln Theatre, Young Vic, Lyric Hammersmith, Hackney Empire, Greenwich & Lewisham Young People’s Theatre.

Applied Writers
Applied Writers is a series of online workshops led by Shereen Jasmin Phillips & Emma Dennis-Edwards, aimed at writers transitioning to applied theatre contexts like community spaces, inclusive casts, and youth audiences.
Our first sessions will be Intro to Applied Theatre Writing, plus a Branding & Business session covering personal branding, key contacts, pitching strategies, contracts, safeguarding, representation ethics, legal frameworks, templates and networking tips.

Tuesday 30th June, 12-1pm
Explore core principles of writing for applied theatre — writing for community casts, inclusivity in character development, and adapting scripts for young people (ages 8-18). Includes prompts and Q&A. Suitable for those new to writing for applied theatre settings.
This session covers personal branding, key contacts (e.g. councils, subsidised and local theatres), pitching strategies, contracts, safeguarding (DBS checks, GDPR), representation ethics, and legal frameworks. Includes templates and networking tips.
Please note: We’re running this as an add-on session, taking place half an hour Intro to Applied Theatre writing - but you can also attend as a stand-alone session.
Applied Design
Collaboration, Context & Creative Practice
Led by Shereen Jasmin Phillips and award-winning designer Khadija Raza, this online workshop unpacks how design and applied theatre inform one another when working across different artistic, social and spacial contexts.
We’re also running an add-on session after each workshop covering Branding & Business in Applied Theatre Design. These sessions will focus on personal branding & business advice for designers, including key contacts, strategies, representation ethics, templates and networking tips.

This workshop explores the creative meeting point between design and applied theatre. Drawing on projects including Love Reign, The Silver Hive, Sundown Kiki Reloaded and American Dream 2.0, this session will:
unpack how writers, designers, producers and creative directors shape work together across different artistic, social and spatial contexts.
look at how design responds to working with different cast sizes, age groups, venues and budgets, from intimate community settings to larger-scale spaces
offer practical insight into how applied theatre and design inform one another, helping participants think more expansively about process, access, responsiveness and visual storytelling.
