Emma and Shereen are award-winning multi-disciplinary artists and longtime collaborators who founded Applied Scripted Arc in 2025 with the aim of amplifying underrepresented voices and building a more equitable new writing landscape.
Applied Scripted Arc draws on their 30 years’ combined experience across writing, dramaturgy, applied theatre, and senior leadership, and their shared lived experience as Black working-class artists.

Previous clients
Shereen and Emma have read scripts for a range of organisations including the National Theatre, Young Vic, Kiln Theatre, Soho Theatre Verity Bargate Award, and the Alfred Fagon Award.
Their writing has been performed at venues including the Bush Theatre, Young Vic, Royal Court, Nottingham Playhouse, Liverpool Everyman, Bunker Theatre, Roundhouse, Arcola, Ovalhouse, Kiln Theatre, and Camden People’s Theatre.
Their screenwriting includes work for the BBC, Royal Court, and Channel 4.
Other organisations they have worked with include Clean Break, Cardboard Citizens, Pentabus, the Old Vic, Hackney Empire, Talawa, and Raw Material Music & Media.
